In my artistic practice, I delve into the intricate interplay between consciousness and the subconscious, using painting as a medium for self-reflection and expression. Archetypal images act as bridges, connecting internal landscapes with external realities and fostering a psychological space for contemplation and self-discovery.
The subjects I paint are universal and not unique to me, sunlight, moonlight, water and sky. Similar to the act of painting, gazing at the moon or watching a sunset is an active experience. The viewer is a conduit to the conscious energy absorbing the depth of movements in constant flux. I am interested in the light in the darkness and the darkness in the light which creates a push pull relationship. This investigation allows me to see more clearly into the depths of the illusion of space. This also allows me to create form and dematerialise it at the same time. A faith in this process allows me to take risks and be vulnerable which often is when the unforeseen is revealed. Through compositional dialog meaning is found.
